Public discussions

The Market Photo Workshop has held a number of public discussions which aim to engage South African and international publics in the relevant debates around photography and its role in a social context. These include public discussions by Rineke Dijkstra, Ricardo Rangel, Zanele Muholi, Jo Ractliffe, Musa Nxumalo and David Goldblatt.

The public discussions are formulated on free and open debate around contemporary photographic practice. The public discussions are also geared towards providing our students access to the practice of more established photographers; thus, we also use the public discussion format as a training strategy through which our students can be exposed to professional practice.
