The Market Photo Workshop is dedicated to the training of new photographers and furthering the practice as a viable career choice in South Africa. Training over 100 students per year, the facilities of the Photo Workshop provide the resources to effectively train learners in an engaging and worthwhile manner. Our current location in Newtown, the cultural precinct of Johannesburg, creates a stimulating atmosphere for students to work while providing an opportunity to engage with the city's urban spaces directly.
Short courses in photography include a Foundation Course and an Intermediate Course. In addition to this, the Photo Workshop offers two full-time, year-long courses: an Advanced Programme in Photography and a Photojournalism and Documentary Photography Programme. The Photo Workshop offers bursaries to students who otherwise would not have the resources to study.
